Typhoon Krathon Causes Flight Cancellations, Flooding, and Landslides in Taiwan

Typhoon Krathon, moving at 240 km/h, has caused severe disruptions in Taiwan, leading to the cancellation of 112 flights and triggering flooding and landslides in some areas. Over 38,000 soldiers are on standby for evacuation and rescue efforts, according to Defense Ministry Spokesperson Sun Li-fang. Taiwan’s Central Weather Administration has issued warnings for southern and eastern regions. Heavy rains have already caused landslides in Hualien and flooding in Pingtung, while highways and railways have been closed, and markets are seeing empty shelves as the island braces for the typhoon.
