UK and Switzerland Shatter June Temperature Records

A severe heatwave is sweeping across Europe, shattering June temperature records in both England and Switzerland. As southwest England hit an unprecedented 36.7 degrees Celsius, meteorologist Andy Page warned that “significant disruptions to daily life are likely” and urged the public to adjust their routines. Meanwhile, Basel recorded a historic 38 degrees Celsius, marking Switzerland’s highest June temperature since record-keeping began. To mitigate health risks, authorities in Paris banned daytime public alcohol consumption, while tragic heat-related incidents across France have already claimed the lives of 48 people seeking refuge in water and three young children left in vehicles.
