UK enters 10-day national mourning after HM Queen dies

The UK has entered a 10-day national mourning after Queen Elizabeth II died at Balmoral Castle yesterday afternoon in Scotland. Flags on royal residences and government buildings were lowered at half-mast. Cultural and sporting events began to be cancelled. The Royal Family has temporarily closed its official website. The mourning will continue until her funeral takes place.

The Queen’s body will be moved from Balmoral Castle in Scotland to Buckingham Palace in London and remain there for 5 days. Prince Charles of Wales, the heir to the throne, will sign the official plans in coming days. The UK government will not be making announcements or important decisions unless they are compelled to keep the focus on the agenda on the Queen.
