Yesterday, the UK and Ukraine signed a loan agreement worth €2.74 billion to support Kiev’s defense capacity.
“This agreement is part of the UK’s unwavering support for the Ukrainian people,” said UK Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves, also mentioning that financial support will strengthen the security and prosperity of the whole of Europe.
The agreement is in addition to the £3 billion UK funds allocated to Ukraine on an annual basis, Reeves said.
Ukrainian Finance Minister Marchenko, who joined the signing ceremony remotely, expressed Ukraine’s great gratitude towards English people.
It was announced that the financial assistance will be repaid with the income from frozen Russian assets.
