Ukraine lost 137 people, Zelensky says

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskiy made a speech to the nation at 07:00 local time. Stating that the Ukrainian soldiers showed great resistance against the Russian attacks, Zelenskiy said, “According to preliminary data, unfortunately, we lost 137 heroes and citizens, 10 of which were officers, today. 316 people were injured. All of them will be given the title of Ukrainian hero.”

Zelenskiy stated that the statements made by Russia that civilians are not targeted are completely false, and said, “They say that civilian settlements are not targets. This is a big lie. Today, military and civilian targets are under Russian bombardment as it was yesterday. The purpose of these attacks is to put pressure on the Ukrainian people. Russian air force is flying around the settlements of Kyiv. The bombardments and attacks on civilian settlements remind of 1941,” he said.

At the end of his statement, Zelenskiy added that he did not leave his country, and that he and his family remained in government residences in Kyiv.
