Ukraine War Enters Fifth Year With No Clear End

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, launched on February 24, 2022, has entered its fifth year, becoming Europe’s largest conflict since World War II. Despite limited front-line changes, millions have been displaced and hundreds of thousands of soldiers killed or wounded, according to Western estimates.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russia failed to achieve its goals, while Moscow continues to control about 20 percent of Ukrainian territory. Peace efforts backed by US President Donald Trump remain inconclusive, with territorial disputes blocking progress.
