Ukrainians migrate to Poland by overcrowded trains

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has announced that, 3.6 million people migrated from Ukraine to different countries in just one month. Poland was the country most affected by the fastest growing refugee crisis since the Second World War. The Polish Border Protection Agency announced that 2,237,000 people have migrated to Poland since the beginning of the war in Ukraine.

According to UNHCR data, 563,519 Ukrainians migrated to Romania, 374,059 to Moldova, 330,877 to Hungary, 271,254 to Russia, 260,244 to Slovakia and 5 569 Ukrainians to Belarus. While 6.5 million people were displaced within the country, the number of people affected by the war in the regions where the conflicts were most intense reached 12 million.

After the threat of attack in Lviv, which has become the safe city of Ukraine and the gathering center for immigrants, the escapes have started to accelerate. Ukrainians go to Poland, the country that receives the most immigrants, by trains departing from Lviv. Passenger trains leaving Lviv for Poland first arrive at Przemysl train station in Poland. Ukrainian immigrants then go to different destinations from here. Due to the high number of immigrants, the expeditions are 2-3 times higher than the capacity. On the trains with a total passenger capacity of 100 people, approximately 150 people have to travel standing up.
