UN Adopts Srebrenica Genocide Remembrance Day Resolution

The UN General Assembly voted to commemorate the 1995 Srebrenica genocide on July 11 annually. The resolution passed with 84 votes in favor, 19 against, and 68 abstentions. Serbia, China, Russia, and others opposed the resolution. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic warned it could lead to similar future bills and not promote peace.

The resolution condemns genocide denial and calls for commemorations and an information program by the UN.
