UN Assembly Votes on Gaza Ceasefire Resolution

The United Nations General Assembly, in a Special Emergency Palestine session, voted on a draft resolution for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza. The resolution, presented by Egypt and supported by around 100 nations including Turkey, received 153 votes in favor, 23 abstentions, and 10 “no” votes. Israel’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Gilad Erdan, expressed concerns before the vote, stating, “This will only prolong the death and destruction in the region.”
