An explosion occurred in the area where underground communication lines pass in Baku, Azerbaijan’s capital. The resulting image showed black smoke flowing from the sewer cover, followed by a violent explosion. People were evacuated from the area, authorities said. The fire was extinguished by firefighters who arrived on the scene. According to the preliminary findings, the explosion was caused by overheating of the underground communication lines.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
