UNHCR hosts bazaar to help refugees in Jordan

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Jordan organized a winter bazaar with refugees to help refugees and the people in hosting communities, particularly in light of the pandemic’s repercussions.

This year’s bazaar allows members of the local community to promote their items while also providing a chance for them to share expertise and talents with refugees.

“This is the idea of the bazaar that we wanted to have communication and some sort of cohesion between both communities, the refugee and host communities. And I think we are getting there, having the 10th bazaar now and we got a lot of interest already. People from all over Jordan (are) coming to the bazaar, coming to visit refugees and standing and supporting refugees.” says Nida Yassin, Officer of UNHCR Jordan.

Refugees from Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Sudan, and Somalia, as well as numerous organizations helping refugees from around Jordan, sold their handcrafted goods during the annual bazaar in Amman.
