US construction companies to build 3D houses in Texas

In the US, construction companies Lennar and ICON will build a next-generation neighborhood that will consist entirely of 3D houses with a joint project. The project, which will be built in Austin, Texas, is planned to become the world’s largest 3D housing neighborhood. The project’s scope calls for the construction of 100 single-story concrete houses using an advanced robotic building system, with the foundation set to be laid next year. The construction of each house to be built in the project area with 3D technology will take approximately a week. The houses will be built by 5 Vulcan machines developed by the ICON company. The company previously stated that with this machine, houses with a width of about 300 square meters can be built.

Studies show that 3D construction technology can reduce carbon dioxide emissions. The sustainable building materials used ensure that zero waste is achieved. “The United States is facing a shortage of nearly 5 million houses. Therefore, there is a need to rapidly increase demand without sacrificing quality, aesthetics or sustainability, and this can be achieved precisely by the power of our technology.” CEO of ICON Jason Ballard said.
