US, Egypt and Qatar Urge Israel-Hamas Ceasefire Talks

U.S. President Joe Biden, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, and Qatar Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamed Al Thani have called on Israel and Hamas to resume ceasefire negotiations on August 15 in Doha or Cairo. The leaders emphasized the urgent need for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip to prevent a larger conflict and stressed that the agreement, which includes the release of hostages and detainees, must be implemented without delay.

The joint statement highlighted the work done by their teams to create a framework agreement, which has been approved by a UN Security Council resolution. They urged both parties to finalize the remaining details and start implementing the ceasefire immediately.

In response, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office confirmed that Israel will send a delegation next week to discuss the agreement’s implementation. Hamas has yet to respond.
