US Government Reopens After 43-Day Shutdown

The 43-day US government shutdown ended after President Donald Trump signed a temporary budget bill approved by the House of Representatives. The funding measure passed 222–209, allowing federal agencies closed since October 1 to resume operations.

The bill finances most agencies until January 30, with some funded through the full fiscal year. Two Republicans voted against it, while six Democrats supported it. Trump blamed Democrats for the shutdown, saying “they tried to extort our country” and added this ‘little excursion’ costed the nation “$1.5 trillion.”
