US Honors Fallen Soldiers on Memorial Day

The United States marked Memorial Day with ceremonies across the country to honor soldiers who died during military service. In New York, thousands gathered on the deck of the decommissioned aircraft carrier Intrepid on the Hudson River for a commemoration ceremony.

A moment of silence was held, and a wreath was placed on the river. New York Mayor Eric Adams stressed the importance of passing down Memorial Day’s meaning to future generations. U.S. Navy Admiral Daryl Caulde highlighted ongoing global threats, including the war in Ukraine, while Intrepid Museum Co-Chair Bruce Mosler reminded attendees that “freedom is never free.”
