US lawmaker makes emergency plane landing on beach

Queens lawmaker Clyde Vanel, landed the single-engine Beechcraft V35 Bonanza type aircraft on the Long Island coast, in the US state of New York due to an engine failure. The plane made an emergency landing on the beach and was dragged into the sea due to the crash. Those moments were captured on the cell phone camera of a woman walking her dog on the beach.

Vanel told that he was taking off with a friend from Brookhaven Airport when the plane’s engine power was cut off. “As per my training, I landed the airplane at the nearest safe location while attempting to minimize damage to persons or property,” Vanel added, noting that the only injury he sustained was a little cut on his chin.
