US Military Osprey Makes Emergency Landing in Japan

A US military Osprey transport aircraft made an emergency landing at Hanamaki Airport in Iwate Prefecture, Japan, at 9:50 a.m. local time due to a reported mechanical failure. No injuries were reported, and civilian air traffic was unaffected. Investigations revealed no issues with the aircraft. This follows another emergency landing of a US Osprey at Odate-Noshiro Airport on July 18.

The Osprey aircraft has faced prior incidents, including a fatal crash in November 2023 off Yakushima Island, Japan, and another crash off Australia in August 2023, resulting in multiple fatalities.
