A US military strike on a suspected drug-trafficking vessel in the Eastern Pacific Ocean has left two people dead. The operation, directed by the US Southern Command (SOUTHCOM), targeted a low-profile boat along known smuggling routes after intelligence indicated it was actively transporting narcotics. Emphasizing a zero-tolerance approach, SOUTHCOM called the lethal strike “a clear and resolute reminder” that they are taking the fight directly to the cartels. Defending the aggressive action, Commander General Francis L. Donovan stated, “We will not allow narco-terrorists to operate with impunity in the Western Hemisphere. Nor will we allow their deadly poisons to reach American societies.”
