Following Israel’s blocking of UN humanitarian aid delivery missions in the Gaza Strip, a senior official from the US State Department, who requested anonymity, touched upon the probability of a hunger problem arising in the north of Gaza and urged the international community to “urgently” send food.
A UN-supported report published last week warned that a famine could occur in the north of Gaza at any time between mid-March and May, affecting 70 percent of the 2.3 million Gazans.
