US Says Eight Killed in Strikes on Boats Allegedly Linked to Drug Trafficking

The US Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) said it carried out strikes on three boats allegedly involved in drug trafficking in the Caribbean Sea and the Eastern Pacific. In a statement, SOUTHCOM said the operations, conducted under “Operation Southern Spear,” killed eight people described as “narco-terrorists.” The US military said the boats were operating on routes believed to be used for drug smuggling, based on intelligence assessments.
