US Snowstorm Cancels 13,000 Flights, Leaves Nearly 1 Million Without Power

A powerful snowstorm sweeping across the United States has led to the cancellation of about 13,000 flights and left roughly 953,000 people without electricity. Heavy snow and extreme cold affected large parts of the country, with the National Weather Service issuing weather warnings for more than 200 million people. In New York City, Mayor Zohran Mamdani said five homeless people had died, warning that extreme cold poses deadly risks, especially for vulnerable populations. President Donald Trump described the storms as “historic” and declared a federal emergency in multiple states.
