US Strikes Alleged Drug Boats in Eastern Pacific

The US military said it carried out strikes on two boats suspected of drug trafficking in the Eastern Pacific, killing five people. US Southern Command said the vessels were believed to be operating along a known smuggling route and were linked to groups it designates as terrorist organizations. The military said three people were killed on one boat and two on the other, with no US personnel injured. The identities and activities of those on board have not been independently verified.
