Uzbekistan and Pakistan have agreed on a $3.5 billion trade and investment package following talks in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif chaired the first meeting of the Uzbekistan–Pakistan Strategic Cooperation Council.
The Uzbek presidency said bilateral trade has grown 2.5 times over the past five years, with a target of reaching $2 billion in the near term. The visit resulted in a joint declaration and nearly 30 agreements, expanding cooperation in sectors including pharmaceuticals, agriculture, mining, food processing, and light industry.
