Victims of Khojaly Massacre commemorated in Azerbaijan

The 31st anniversary of the Khojaly Massacre, committed by Armenians on February 26, 1992, was commemorated in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, ministers, deputies, many bureaucrats, and Turkish Ambassador to Baku Cahit Bağcı visited the Khojaly Monument. Aliyev laid a wreath on the monument, and held a moment of silence. Citizens left carnations at the monument after the ceremony.

On February 26, 1992, Armenian forces, with the support of Russia, massacred Azerbaijani civilians in the town of Khojaly in Nagorno-Karabakh, Azerbaijan. As a result of the massacre, a total of 613 Azerbaijani Turks, including many children, were killed, 150 went missing, and 487 were seriously injured. The Armenian forces also took 1,275 prisoner. The bodies of the victims showed that they were burned, their eyes were gouged out, and their heads were cut off.
