Vietnam Evacuates 586,000 Ahead of Typhoon Kajiki

Vietnam declared a state of alert as Typhoon Kajiki made landfall from the South China Sea, forcing the evacuation of more than 586,000 people. Authorities warned that 400 settlements face risks of flooding and landslides, with schools and beaches closed nationwide and flights canceled in Thanh Hoa and Quang Binh.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh mobilized 16,500 soldiers and over 100,000 paramilitary personnel for evacuation and rescue operations. Heavy rains and winds have already hit several provinces, while China also issued security warnings for regions expected to be affected by the storm.
