Visitors Flock to Cappadocia ahead of Eid al-Adha

With the arrival of Eid al-Adha and the closing of schools in Cappadocia, one of the most important tourism regions of Türkiye, the number of visitors reached the highest levels.

“The occupancy rate rose up to 80 to 90 percent in the Cappadocia region. We host tens of thousands of local and foreign tourists. Compared to the first 5 months of last year, the number of visitors we hosted in the first five months of 2024 increased by 26 percent, to 1,660,000. This increase continues to increase every day,” said Nevşehir Governor Ali Fidan.

The Cappadocia region, where the fairy chimneys are located, was included in the UNESCO World Natural and Cultural Heritage list in 1985.
