Volcanic Eruption In Iceland Prompts Evacuation

The volcano near Grindavik on Iceland’s Reykjanes Peninsula erupted at 22:17 local time, as confirmed by the Icelandic Meteorological Office (IMO), sending out lava and ash following a series of recent earthquakes. Last month, 4,000 residents were evacuated from the town, and a nearby hot spring was shut down. Civil Defense issued a warning advising people to steer clear of the area.
