volcano erupts groundwater steam in Philippines

Bulusan Volcano, located on the island of Luzon in the Philippines, erupted groundwater steam for 17 minutes yesterday. Following the eruption, the Philippines Institute of Volcanology and Seismology raised the volcano’s alert level from 0 to 1, stating that this is an unusual situation. At an altitude of one kilometer, dense smoke formed on the volcano. According to the National Council for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management, 180 people were evacuated from the region as a result of the ashfall in Juban and Casiguran in the city of Sorsogon in the Bicol region. 77 volcanic earthquakes were recorded in the volcano area 24 hours before the eruption.
