Voting Continues in Iran

Iranians continue to go to the polls to elect the new members of the Assembly of Experts, which is responsible for electing and supervising the country’s religious leader, and the new parliament members of the 290-seated Islamic Consultative Assembly. More than 50,000 ballot boxes across the country will be open for 61 million voters until 20:00 local time.

“I hope the economic problems and high prices in our country will come to an end. I am currently a tenant because I had to sell my house because I could not make ends meet. I want the problems to be solved with this election,” said Iranian Zahra Ahvampurshapuri, a voter.

“I came here today to participate in the elections and to take part in the future of my country. I am very happy that I voted, and I want all our citizens to participate in the election,” said Fatemeh Khamoshi, another voter.
