Wild Horses Flocked to City Center in Manisa due to Hot Weather

The sudden increase in air temperature in Türkiye’s Manisa province also affected wildlife. In the city, where the air temperature reached 40 degrees in the shade, the Yılkı horses, a wild horse species, living in the Spil Mountain National Park flocked to a children’s playground in the city center to cool off and find food.

“These animals come to the city every year due to hot weather and hunger. We try to feed them as much as we can. We call on animal lovers to leave food on the roadsides in the mountains. It’s a shame. They came all the way here because of hunger. Their nature is a mountain, not a city,” said Yusuf Çetin, a local.

According to the meteorology department, the temperature will jump to 41 in the city, which is a historical record.
