Wildfire engulfed the city of Vina del Mar in Chile’s Valparaiso region, destroying 400 homes and killing at least 2 people. Chilean President Gabriel Boric declared a state of emergency in the Valparaiso region. “Our priority as the Chilean government is the people’s safety. We will continue to mobilize all necessary resources to control the situation,” Boric stated. As the fire burned 110 hectares of land, evacuation orders were issued for some neighborhoods.
Around 800 firefighters and 150 forest rangers continue to fight the fire
