Wildfires Force Evacuations in Türkiye’s Izmir Province

Wildfires in the Çeşme and Ödemiş districts of Izmir, Türkiye, continue to rage as firefighting teams battle the flames by air and land. In Çeşme’s Ildır neighborhood, strong winds helped spread the fire, prompting the evacuation of several villages, including Germiyan, Karaköy, and Nohutlu. Efforts involve 2 planes, 6 helicopters, 39 water trucks, and heavy equipment.

Meanwhile in Ödemiş, fires that broke out in Tosunlar spread overnight, leading to the evacuation of Tosunlar, Sucıktı, and Köseler. As of sunrise, 2 planes, 9 helicopters, and 35 water trucks remain active in the firefighting efforts.
