According to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE), the Palisades and Eaton fires, which broke out on January 7, have been brought under control, while the extinguishing efforts are continuing in steep terrain.
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office announced that the total loss of life was 29, with 12 people losing their lives in the Palisades fire and 17 in the Eaton fire.
The economic loss caused by the fire is estimated to exceed $250 billion.
