Record heatwave in Spain triggers forest fires. 25,000 hectares of forest area turned to ash in the Sierra de Culebra region of Spain, while the fire gradually increased in the Navarra region. The regional government of Navarra warned citizens not to travel unless it was necessary. While over a thousand people have been evacuated from the region’s 20 villages, officials announced yesterday that residents can return home.
No casualties or injuries have been reported in the fires so far.
