William Ruto wins Kenya’s presidential election

After serving as Former Vice President of Kenya since 2013, William Ruto has won this year’s presidential election by overtaking his left oriented rival candidate Raila Odinga. Ruto won the election with taking 50,49% of the votes while Odinga took 48,85%.

However, the election process was tense and controversial since the results were only approved by 3 out of 7 Electoral Commission Member of Kenya. The members who didn’t verify the votes described the results as “inapprehensible”. The vice president of the commission stated that they will make an explanation about the results and advised the Kenya citizens to stay calm.
