Two German tourists parasailing in Antalya’s Manavgat district began to float in the air after the rope snapped shortly after takeoff. German nationals Maria Madelena Ebert (31) and Deniz Elena Arslan (32), who were stuck in the parachute after hitting the electric wires, survived the accident with minor injuries. Ebert and Arslan were taken to the hospital by ambulance.
The dry grass in the olive garden caught fire due to the broken electrical wires. Crews put out the fire before it spread. The parachute that had become entangled with the pole was removed.
The women, whose treatment was completed in the hospital following the incident, said they were scared at the time. “They took care of everything,” said Ebert and Arslan, who were relieved to be taken care of. “We’re here, and everything is fine,” they said.
