French President Emmanuel Macron said a new working group will define the security guarantees Ukraine will need after a comprehensive peace deal. The group will be led by France and the United Kingdom, with Türkiye playing a key maritime role and the United States closely involved.
Speaking after an online meeting of more than 30 countries supporting post-war peace efforts, Macron said all partners seek a “just and lasting peace.” He noted that the Ukrainian army will face no restrictions under a future agreement and must serve as a deterrent against new attacks.
Macron added that financial support using frozen Russian assets will soon be finalized with EU partners to ensure long-term backing for Ukraine and maintain pressure on Moscow.
