The Yarmouk Refugee Camp in Damascus, once known as “Palestine in Syria,” lies in ruins after its destruction during the 2013 blockade and attacks by regime forces. Barrel bombs devastated the camp, leading to widespread destruction and the deaths of hundreds due to hunger.
Footage from the air reveals the camp’s war-torn state, with most residents having fled and those remaining struggling to survive in the wreckage.
Mahmoud Albasha, who joined opposition forces, shared, “I hadn’t seen my mother for 10 years. Many died here, and people ate grass to survive. Conditions were unbearable.”
