Yusufeli Dam Prepares for Power Generation, Set to Boost Turkish Economy

The Yusufeli Dam, located on the Çoruh River in Artvin, is set to begin electricity generation with its water level exceeding 185 meters. The dam is one of the world’s tallest, and test electricity generation is planned to commence in August. With a total capacity of 558 megawatts, the dam is expected to generate 1.88 billion kilowatt-hours of energy per year, contributing approximately 4.1 billion liras to Türkiye’s annual economy. In addition, the dam will supply water to nearby dams and aid in flood risk management by controlling river sedimentation.
