Zagreb’s cleaners on strike, city’s streets piled up garbage

Garbage has piled up in the streets of Zagreb, the capital city of Croatia, as a result of a strike by cleaning workers. Nearly 1,000 employees of the cleaning company “Cistoca” are protesting the dismissal of three of their colleagues due to “neglecting their jobs” since the strike started on Tuesday. The workers have declared that they will not return to work unless their colleagues are reinstated and their salaries are raised.

In addition, footage of three workers showed them dumping plastic waste and other waste into the same truck was captured, and they were dismissed after the video went viral on social media.
