Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the Russian army currently controls 20 percent of Ukrainian territory, in his speech to the Luxembourg parliament. 20 percent of the territory of Ukraine corresponds to approximately 125,000 square kilometers including the Crimean Peninsula, which Russia illegally occupied in 2014.
“We have to defend ourselves against almost the entire Russian army. All Russian military formations ready for war were involved in this aggression,” Zelensky said, adding that the battle line is more than a thousand kilometers long.
On the other hand, the Russian army controls most of the city of Severodonetsk, and Russia may control almost all of Luhansk if they capture the entire city.
