Anti-government protests continue in Israel

Tens of thousands of people gathered in Habima Square in the Israeli capital to protest the attempts of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government to “weaken the judiciary” and the far-right policies.

Israeli police announced that they expect 100,000 people to participate in the demonstrations and took intense security measures.

“What you see here today is a demonstration in support of the country. This is a demonstration for the country. People who love their country have come here today to defend the democracy, the courts, the idea of coexistence and common interests. We will not give up until we win,” said Yair Lapid, the main opposition leader and former Prime Minister who attended the demonstration.
