Iraq Urges Chevron to Expand Energy Investments

Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Zaidi visited Chevron’s Texas headquarters to urge the U.S. energy giant to accelerate and expand its operations across Iraq. Accompanied by key cabinet members, Zaidi stressed that increasing crude oil production and bringing advanced technologies to the country remain “strategic goals” for his administration. He called on Chevron to take a more active role in Iraq’s natural gas and petrochemical sectors, promising to provide all necessary support to international investors. In response, Chevron Vice Chairman Mark Nelson confirmed the company’s eagerness to invest in southern oil fields and develop vital pipeline and storage infrastructure. This corporate outreach is part of Zaidi’s broader U.S. tour, which is expected to yield more than 18 bilateral agreements.
