silent strike in myanmar leaves streets empty

In response to the call by anti-coup groups, a silent strike was held to protest the military coup that took place in the country in 2019. The protest took place between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. local time today, and the streets of Myanmar were empty as everyone stayed at home.

Due to the military’s oppression, more than 2,900 people have been killed, 1.5 million people have been displaced, 8 million children have been deprived of access to education, and it is estimated that 15 million people are struggling with food shortages.
