supporters resist police operation on residence of Imran Khan

Police conducted an operation on the residence of the former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, who was accused of selling state gifts and concealing his assets while in office and was issued two separate arrest warrants on March 13 for not participating in the lawsuits, after he set off to attend an hearing in Islamabad.

The tension in the area rose as his supporters, who had set up camps and tents in the area of Khan’s residence, saw the police teams coming to Khan’s residence after his exit. Suhail Sukhera, a police officer, stated that they took action to remove the camps and tents set up in the area by Khan’s supporters and demolished the barricades set up in front of the house. Thirty people among the supporters who resisted by throwing stones and molotov cocktails at police were detained.

In a post on his social media account after the operation, Khan said: “It is clear that the government wants to arrest me even though I was released on bail in all my cases. Although I know their bad intentions, I am heading to Islamabad and the court because I believe in the rule of law. However, the evil intentions of this gang of fraudsters should be seen by everyone.”
