U.S. search and rescue teams have pulled three survivors from the rubble in Venezuela following the devastating June 24 earthquakes. The 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude tremors have claimed at least 1,450 lives, injured over 3,150, and displaced more than 12,700 people after hundreds of buildings collapsed. Operating in the hard-hit Playa Grande area of La Guaira state, the Miami-Dade Fire and Rescue Unit’s Florida Task Force is actively working to locate victims. By using search dogs and communicating directly in Spanish with those trapped, the team successfully rescued three individuals from two separate sites. International rescue crews are continuing their race against time to find more survivors amidst the widespread destruction.
