4 new eruptions in Popocatepetl Volcano

Four new eruptions and 168 gas and ash dispersion were recorded in Popocatepetl Volcano in the last 24 hours, according to Mexico’s National Center for Disaster Prevention (CENAPRED).  Puebla, Morelos, and other Mexican states have all received warnings as the eruptions caused ashfall in many surrounding areas.

Additionally, the volcano’s smoke plume rose 3 kilometers into the air during the morning eruption. Residents were informed that it is unsafe to approach the volcano within 12 kilometers owing to the possibility of falling rocks and other debris from the eruptions.

Since the beginning of the year, the volcano has 41 outbursts.
