Fire Near Turkish Holiday Resort Threatens Forest Area

A fire that started near a garbage dump in Ayvalık, Balıkesir, Türkiye, has spread to the maquis area. Fueled by strong north winds, the flames are advancing toward the forest near Sarımsaklı Beach. The Ministry of Forestry has deployed 4 planes and 2 helicopters to combat the fire from the air. On the ground, 60 personnel, 5 water tankers, 2 water supply vehicles, 2 first response vehicles, and work machines are engaged in firefighting efforts.
