There was an explosion occurred and then a fire broke out in Eastway Tank Pump & Meter Ltd, which produces tankers and pumps in the Merivale Road area of Canada’s capital city of Ottawa on Thursday. On Friday, Canadian police report 1 people died and 5 missing after the fire. Expressing that the missing people are thought to have lost their lives, the police stated that the families of the deceased and missing were informed. Ottawa City Councillor Tim Tierney told he was visiting a facility meters away from the exploded building when the fire started. “I actually thought it was an earthquake at first. The ground was shaking and then suddenly, seconds later, suddenly I hear the bang,” Tierney said.
Ottawa Fire Brigade announced that the fire was under control, and there isn’t any danger to the residents. It was stated that the search and rescue efforts are continuing from the explosion area. The Ottawa Police Arson Unit, Ottawa Ministry of Labour and Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office launched an investigation regarding the explosion.
