An explosion occurred in a 3-storey restaurant in Iraqi capital city of Baghdad. Iraqi police stated that the restaurant collapsed due to the explosion and 1 person died, at least 3 people were injured in the incident. After the explosion, the fire and police teams were dispatched to the scene and started search and rescue efforts. Meanwhile, the injured were transferred to the hospital. it’s estimated that many people were trapped in the basement of the restaurant. While the cause of the explosion isn’t known yet, it’s announced that the explosion was thought to have occurred due to a fault in the natural gas pipeline according to the preliminary investigation.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio dismissed concerns over NATO, stating, “The hysteria in the media is baseless. President Trump supports NATO, and we will remain in NATO.” He clarified that Trump is not against the alliance but “against a NATO that does not have the capabilities it needs.” Speaking alongside NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in Brussels, Rubio urged all member states to increase defense spending to 5 percent to strengthen the alliance.
Rutte highlighted NATO’s continued support for Ukraine, noting over $20 billion in aid and ongoing negotiations for a lasting peace. He also pointed to growing security threats from Russia, China, North Korea, and Iran.
